How does the Ome Smart Knob work?
The Ome Smart Knob works just like your regular stove knob — push and twist to turn on your burner! The key difference is that Ome Knobs are wifi connected with built-in motors and position sensors, so the Knob can recognize settings, turn by itself and you can monitor and control the Knob(s) from the Ome App.
Can the Ome Smart Knob turn my stove ON?
No, for safety reasons you have to first push and turn your burner on. Then the Smart Knob can adjust the setting or turn the burner off!
Does Ome change the way I use my stove?
No! Use your stove exactly as you do now, push and twist the Knob to turn your burner on and adjust a burner’s settings. Your stove is just smarter with Ome!
How do I know if Ome will work on my stove?
This depends on your stove model. Refer to our compatibility quiz to determine if your stove is compatible. You can also email a picture of your stove to support@omekitchen.com and we’ll get back to you quickly with a confirmation.
What stoves is Ome compatible with today?
Ome is compatible with gas and electric ranges and stove tops that use knobs to control the burners. Be sure to check our compatibility guidelines to make sure Ome will work with your stove.
How many Ome Knobs do I need for my stove?
We recommend getting as many Ome Knobs as your current stove has. For example, if your stove has 4 burners, you can get 4 Smart Knobs. But you can also just order 1 or 2 if you only use a few burners to cook!
Can I remove my knobs if I move houses?
Yes! Ome Knobs can be uninstalled. Please contact us if you need to use Ome on a different stove and we can send you a new set of installation tools.
Is Ome waterproof or water-resistant?
When installed properly the Knob will not allow liquids to pass to sensitive areas. However like most smart devices, please be sure the Knob is never completely immersed in liquid or have liquid poured directly into the underside of the Knob as this will result in permanent damage.
Where can I download the Ome App?
You can find Ome in the App Store (currently iOS only) or here.
Is the app free? Are there any additional fees involved?
Ome’s safety features (auto shut-off and remote monitoring) are free with no additional fee or subscription. You will receive alerts when Ome turns your stove off and you can remotely monitor your stove’s status anywhere from our app!
At Ome, we believe this level of peace of mind should be a given in every cooking appliance.
What are the dimensions of the Ome smart knob?
The Ome Smart Knob is 2.28in (58mm) in diameter and 2.07in (53mm) in height. The Gen 1 Smart Knob Knob is 2.71in (69mm) in diameter, and 2.51in (55.3 mm) in height.
Is Wifi required to set up and use the Ome Knob?
Yes, a stable WiFi connection is necessary to set up the Ome Knob in the app and to access the app and features for daily use.
NOTE: The auto-shutoff feature will work even if your WiFi goes out!
Does Ome use Bluetooth?
No, Ome Knobs operate only through WiFi.
Do the smart knobs come in different colors?
The Ome Smart Knob ships in a dual-tone finish that is matte black and stainless steel. We will add additional color options in the future!
Is Ome available for both android and iOS?
The Ome app is currently available only on the iOS app. We will launch the Android version of the app in November 2024. You can still buy your Ome Smart Knobs ahead of time so you have them in hand!
How do I clean the Ome Knobs?
A damp cloth or microfiber cloth can be used to wipe the exterior of the knob when needed to clean any grease, food or residue. Compatible cleansers include dish soap with warm water. Harsh chemicals or abrasives must not be used and Ome Knobs must never be submerged in water.
What if my phone doesn’t have service or my home Wi-Fi goes out? Do the safety features still work?
Even if your WiFi goes out or you lose cell signal, the auto-shutoff feature of the Knob will still work. However, you will not be able to receive notifications or check the status of your stove until Wi-Fi and/or cell signal is restored.
Will Ome work on my oven?
Ome Knobs are only compatible and tested for stove control. While most ovens are now digitally controlled, if your oven is controlled using a knob, we do not recommend using the Ome Knob on it.
Does Ome work with voice assistants?
Yes, Alexa skills are available for all Ome app features! Please visit your Alexa app to add these skills.
What if my stove has digital controls and no knobs? Will Ome work?
No, as of now Ome only works on stoves that use knobs to control the burners.
Is there a way to lock the Ome Knobs?
The Knob has a “safety mode” feature that can be enabled through the app. While in this mode, any Knob that is turned ON will automatically turn off and you will receive a notification, alerting you that the stove is being used when it’s not supposed to be!
NOTE: All Knobs must be in the OFF position in order for safety mode to be turned on.
How easy would it be for someone outside of our family members to have access to our stove knobs, intentionally controlling them?
Unless you have shared login credentials for your account, there is no way for family members to have access to the stove.
What features does Ome have?
Auto-shutoff: Ome will detect if a burner has been left on for more than 15 minutes without any activity (change in setting) and automatically turn it off.
Remote monitoring: Check the status of your stove and any burner (that has Ome installed) from anywhere and receive real-time notifications.
Remote burner control*: Adjust burner setting right from the Ome App while on your home wifi network.
Cooking timers*: Set a cooking timer from the app and Ome will turn off the burner when it’s done!
Safety mode*: When enabled, any Knob that is turned ON will automatically turn OFF. You will receive a notification when a knob is turned on so you are aware that something/someone is using the stove when they’re not supposed to! The safety mode button can be found in the app in the upper right hand corner of the home screen.
How does the auto-shut off feature work?
After 15min of no knob activity while ON (either manual adjustment of the knob or by the app), Ome will automatically turn the knob OFF and send you a notification. You will receive an app notification 1 minute before Ome is going to turn off the burner and through the app, you can indicate if you want to leave the stove on. If you know you need to cook food for longer than 15min, you can change the auto-off timer or override the auto-shutoff by setting a timer through the app (i.e. 20min for rice).
Can I change the auto-off default timer in the app?
We currently do allow Ome users to change the 15min auto-off timer directly through the app, from any time between 15 to 60 minutes. If you need to cook something for longer than 60min, the best way to ensure the Knob doesn’t turn off too early is to set a timer!
What is the expected battery life of the smart knob?
Battery life varies on cooking activity and how often Ome’s smart features are used. Under typical conditions with Wi-Fi enabled, the Ome Knobs will have a battery life of 3 - 4 months.

Is Ome FCC approved?
Yes, Ome Knobs are FCC certified.
How secure is Ome’s technology?
At Ome, we prioritize the security and privacy of our users to keep your kitchen safe and your data secure. We employ advanced security measures to ensure that your data and control of your appliances are protected:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the Ome Smart Knob and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard encryption protocols. This includes both the data sent from the knob to our servers and the commands sent from our servers to the knob.
- Secure WiFi Connectivity: The Ome Smart Knob connects to your home WiFi network using secure methods that prevent unauthorized access. We follow best practices for IoT device security, including regular updates and patches to address any potential vulnerabilities.
- User Authentication: Access to the Ome Smart Knob’s controls and settings is protected by robust user authentication processes. Only authorized users can monitor and control the knob via the Ome app, adding an additional layer of security.
- Privacy by Design: At Ome, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not store any unnecessary personal information, and our system is designed to ensure that only you have access to your appliance data and controls. We do not have access to listen in or view any data beyond what is necessary for the functionality of the device.
How do I take my Knop Topp off of the Knob Bottom?
Grip the front of the knob top, the section with the marker, and pull up and away from the motor. Refer to this video if needed!
SETUP & USAGE
Do I need a professional to install the Ome on my stove?
No! Ome’s installation process was designed to be simple enough for anyone to do at home, without a professional. If you have questions or encounter issues during setup, please contact us by email, phone or text at support@omekitchen.com or 855-663-5227.
What comes in the Ome box?
The Ome box contains your Ome Smart Knob(s), charging accessories, setup and installation parts, and a user guide. The user guide and installation instructions will walk you though setup and outline all of the parts needed.
How do I install the Ome Knobs?
Each Ome Knob must be installed using the installation instructions and videos. The Ome App is also required to set up an account and complete installation. Be sure to download the app before starting installation!
What happens if I move and I want to take my Ome Knobs with me?
You can easily remove your Ome Knob(s) by referring to this video. If you want to use them in your next home, you will need new installation parts (please contact us to order these). Be sure to check that Ome is compatible with your new stove by referring to our compatibility guidelines.
How do I charge the Ome Knob?
There is a charging port located on the bottom of the Knob Top . Remove the knob top from the stove so that the charging port is accessible and use the provided charging cable to charge the knob. You will receive a notification when your knob is fully charged. You can check battery levels of each knob at any time in the Ome App.
PLEASE NOTE: The Knob Top must be removed from your stove and charged in a separate, dry area. The Knob should never be charged while installed on your stove.
How long does it take to recharge the battery?
From a critically low battery level, the Ome Knob will take 4-5 hours to recharge (we recommend doing this overnight). To charge the Ome Knob, simply take the Knob Top off, leaving the Knob Bottom installed on your stove. You will receive a notification when the Knob is sufficiently charged and can be reinstalled on your stove.
Will I be notified when the battery in a smart knob is running low?
Yes, you will receive a notification in the app letting you know that your Ome Knob needs to be recharged. Timely battery charges are essential to the performance of your smart knob. At critically low battery levels, certain app features will be limited until the Knob is recharged.
Do I have to charge the Ome Knob(s) before setting up and installing them on my stove?
We recommend charging the Ome Knob after waking it up, prior to installation on your stove.
How do I set up a dual zone burner?
The Ome App will guide you through the setup of a dual zone burner. Be sure to select “Dual-zone” in app setup when prompted.
How do I set up a trizone burner?
The Ome App interface currently does not support tri-zone burners. However, you can still install the Ome Knob for monitoring purposes. Please note that functionality such as auto-shutoff is not guaranteed to work due to the Knob’s inability to rotate through all the zones. If you choose to use Ome on a tri-zone burner, you assume liability for any damages or injury due to electric shock, fire or other hazard. Please contact us at support@omekitchen.com if you have additional questions.
Do you have to have the app open to receive notifications?
No. As long as you're not signed out of the app and have cell service or WiFi, your smartphone will continue to receive notifications.
Do I need wifi connection to set up my Ome Knobs?
Yes. Ome requires a wireless internet connection for operation.
How is the Ome Knob’s firmware updated?
Firmware updates are released periodically to help improve performance and add new features. Firmware updates begin automatically and you can still operate your knob through the app during the update. Firmware updates can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE: In order for the firmware to update, your knob must be connected to Wi-Fi.
How do I find the Ome Knob’s macID?
The macID of your Ome device is located on the back of the Knob Top. PLEASE NOTE: If your knob is mounted on your stove, you will need to detach the Knob Top to access the macID.
You can also find information about your knob, such as the serial number, in the Ome App. Follow these steps to find your knob’s serial number in the App:
- Open the Ome App
- Click on the settings tab in the bottom navigation bar on the lower left-hand side of the screen
- Select the device (Knob #X)
- You will see the (Macid) at the bottom of the screen
How can I get help with the setup and installation of my Ome Knobs?
The user guide (provided in your Ome box) and the installation instructions will walk you through installing the Knob. If you have any questions or issues, contact us via email, call or text at support@omekitchen.com or 855-663-5227.

If I place my order now, when will I receive it?
All new orders will ship within 2-4 weeks of order placement. If shipping timelines change, we will notify you ASAP!
Will I be charged on order or when my Ome kit ships?
You will be charged as soon as you place your order. If your order does not ship by the date specified, you request a refund at any time.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major bank cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Is there a warranty on Ome smart knobs?
Yes, we offer a 1-year limited warranty from the date of purchase, unless premium product protection is added at purchase (2 & 3 years).
Does Ome ship internationally?
Ome currently ships only within the United States.

Troubleshooting
What happens if my Knob does not reconnect to WiFi after it loses connection?
If your Ome Knob does not automatically reconnect to Wifi, you can use the reset pin included in your Ome Box to power cycle the Knob. Refer to this video on how to do this correctly!
