The Ome Knob works just like your regular stove knob — push and twist to turn on your stove! The key difference is that Ome Knobs are wifi connected with built-in motors, so the Knob can turn by itself to different settings and you can monitor and control the Knob(s) from the Ome App.
No! Use your stove exactly as you do now, push and twist the Knob to turn your burner on and adjust a burner’s settings. Your stove is just much smarter with Ome!
Depending on your stove’s characteristics, Ome may not fit just yet. Refer to our compatibility page to determine if your stove is compatible, or take our compatibility quiz! Each Ome box also comes with a measuring tool so you can double check as soon as you receive it and return if it doesn’t fit.
But don’t worry if your stove isn’t compatible yet! Sign up for our Gen 2 waitlist to be the first to hear about it’s release! Ome’s Gen 2 Knobs will offer a much wider array of compatibility and color options.
Ome is compatible with gas and electric stoves that use knobs to control the burners. Ome currently does not support stoves that have knobs that lay flat (i.e. stove tops). Be sure to check our compatibility guidelines to make sure Ome will work with your stove.
You can reserve as many knobs as your current stove has. For example, if your stove has 4 burners, you can get 4 smart knobs. But you can also just order 1 or 2 if you only use a few burners to cook.
Yes! Ome Knobs can be uninstalled. Please contact us if you need to use Ome on a different stove as we will send you a new set of installation tools.
When installed properly the Knob will not allow liquids to pass to sensitive areas. Note that the charging cover must always be fully inserted to cover the charging port when the Knob is not charging. The Knob must never be immersed in liquid or have liquid poured directly into the underside of the Knob as this will result in permanent damage.

Ome’s safety features (auto shut-off and remote monitoring) are free with no additional fee or subscription. You will receive alerts when Ome turns your stove off and you can remotely monitor your stove’s status anywhere from our app! There are, however, premium features that include cooking timers, remote burner control, and stove safety locks. All customers will receive basic and premium features free for the first 3 months. After that, it’s just $5/mo or $50/yr!
The Ome Knob is 2.78 inches (70.5 mm) in diameter, and 2.52 inches (64 mm) in height.
Yes, a stable Wifi connection is necessary to set up the Ome Knob in the app and to access the app and features for daily use.
NOTE: The auto-shutoff feature will work even if your Wifi goes out!
No, Ome Knobs operate only through WiFi.

No! For safety reasons, Ome Knobs cannot be turned on remotely. You must first turn on your burner and then Ome can be controlled through the app.
iOS only. Devices must be on iOS 12 or later.
A damp cloth can be used to wipe the exterior of the knob when needed to clean any grease, food or residue. Compatible cleansers include dish soap with warm water. Harsh chemicals or abrasives must not be used and Ome Knobs must never be submerged in water.
Even if your WiFi goes out or you lose cell signal, the auto-shutoff feature of the Knob will still work. However, you will not be able to receive notifications or check the status of your stove until Wi-Fi and/or cell signal is restored.
Ome Knobs are only compatible and tested for stove control. While most ovens are now digitally controlled, if your oven is controlled using a knob, do not use the Ome Knob on it.
Integrations with smart home systems are coming soon. First up is integration with Amazon Alexa! Coming this summer (2021).
No, as of now Ome only works on stoves that use knobs to control the burners.
The Knob has a “safety mode” feature that can be enabled through the app. While in this mode, any Knob that is turned ON will automatically turn off and you will receive a notification, alerting you that the stove is being used when it’s not supposed to be!
NOTE: All Knobs must be in the OFF position in order for safety mode to be turned on.
Each Ome Knob must be installed using the installation instructions and videos. The Ome App is also required to set up an account and complete installation. Be sure to download the app before starting installation!
You can easily remove your Ome Knob(s) by referring to this video. If you want to use them in your next home, you will need new installation parts (please contact us to order these). Be sure to check that Ome is compatible with your new stove by referring to our compatibility guidelines.
Auto-shutoff: Ome will detect if a burner has been left on for more than 15 minutes without any activity (change in setting) and automatically turn it off.
Remote monitoring: Check the status of your stove and any burner (that has Ome installed) from anywhere and receive real-time notifications.
Remote burner control*: Adjust burner setting right from the Ome App while on your home wifi network. If you are not on your home Wifi or out of the house, you can only turn all burners off from the home screen.
Cooking timers*: Set a cooking timer from the app and Ome will turn off the burner when it’s done!
Safety mode*: When enabled, any Knob that is turned ON will automatically turn OFF. You will receive a notification when a knob is turned on so you are aware that something/someone is using the stove when they’re not supposed to! The safety mode button can be found in the app in the upper right hand corner of the home screen.

After 15min of no knob activity while ON (either manual adjustment of the knob or by the app), Ome will automatically turn the knob OFF and send you a notification. You will receive an app notification 1 minute before Ome is going to turn off the burner and through the app, you can indicate if you want to leave the stove on. If you know you need to cook food for longer than 15min, you can override the auto-shutoff by setting a timer through the app (i.e. 20min for rice).
We currently do not allow Ome users to change the 15 min auto-off timer directly through the app. If you need to cook something for longer than 15 min, the best way to ensure the Knob doesn’t turn off too early is to set a timer!
Battery life varies on cooking activity and how often Ome’s smart features are used. Under typical conditions with Wi-Fi enabled, the Ome Knobs will have a battery life of 3-4 months.

The Ome box contains your Ome Smart Knob(s), charging accessories, setup and installation parts, a measuring tool and a user guide. The user guide and installation instructions will walk you though setup and outline all of the parts needed.

Yes, Ome Knobs have been FCC certified.
There is a charging port located on the side of the Knob that is covered by a rubber plug. Gently remove the plug so the charging port is accessible and use the provided charging cable to charge the knob. You will receive a notification when your knob is fully charged. You can check battery levels of each knob at any time in the Ome App.
PLEASE NOTE: The Ome Knob must be removed from your stove and charged in a separate, dry area. The Knob should never be charged while installed on your stove.
From a critically low battery level, the Ome Knob will take 4-5 hours to recharge. You will receive a notification when the Knob is sufficiently charged and can be reinstalled on your stove.
Yes, you will receive a notification in the app letting you know that your Ome Knob needs to be recharged. Timely battery charges are essential to the performance of your smart knob. At critically low battery levels, certain app features will be limited until the Knob is recharged.
It is recommended that you charge the Ome Knob after waking it up, prior to installation on your stove. Most Ome devices will arrive with a battery charge ranging from 50 to 70%.
The Ome App will guide you through the setup of a dual zone burner. Be sure to select “Dual-zone” in app setup when prompted.
The Ome App interface currently does not support tri-zone burners. However, you can still install the Ome Knob for monitoring purposes. Please note that functionality such as auto-shutoff is not guaranteed to work due to the Knob’s inability to rotate through all the zones. If you choose to use Ome on a tri-zone burner, you assume liability for any damages or injury due to electric shock, fire or other hazard. No. As long as you're not signed out of the app and have cell service or WiFi, your smartphone will continue to receive notifications.
Yes. Ome requires a wireless internet connection for operation.
Firmware updates are released periodically to help improve performance and add new features. Firmware updates begin automatically and you can still operate your knob through the app during the update. Firmware updates can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE: In order for the firmware to update, your knob must be connected to Wi-Fi.

PLEASE NOTE: If your knob is mounted on your stove, you will need to pull it off to access the serial number.
You can also find information about your knob, such as the serial number, in the Ome App. Follow these steps to find your knob’s serial number in the App:
- Open the Ome App
- Click on the settings tab in the bottom navigation bar on the lower left-hand side of the screen
- Select the device (Knob #X)
- You will see the serial number (Macid) at the bottom of the screen
